Sew Easy! Snuggly Sloth
Overall Rating: 4.1 out of 58out of 9 reviewers would recommend this product to a friend.Adorable
My 9 YO granddaughter loved this kit. She (thankfully) is learning how to sew in school. As soon as she opened the gift she started sewing.
Recommended for older ages
This sloth is so cute but two of my kids got one for Christmas, 7 year olds, and it was too challenging for them. So unless your child is very advanced, wait until 8-9.
So fun and cute!
I got this for my niece for Christmas because of her love of sloths and she loved it. It was a little difficult for her but with some help she was able to do it and the final product was so cute. Great for beginners!
Great project!
My 7 year old son loves sloths and was excited to make this. The directions could be better, but were adequate for me (with little sewing experience) to help him get started on each step. He didnt want to use the purse so we havent made that yet- he worked on the sloth on and off over a couple days and was very proud of his accomplishment and loved the finished product.
Good for crafters
My niece loves this one. Perfect for the crafter in your life.
Patient adult required
I bought a Snuggly Sloth and a Llama for my twin 6 year old grandsons. The boys love art projects and have good fine motor control. The stuffies were too difficult for them. I am a knitter and have done sewing projects in the past. I took over. They watched. They love their stuffies, but little of the project was done by the boys. I found the directions difficult. For example, it was hard to figure out what color thread was recommended for sewing the outside of the sloth. In the picture on this site, you can see that it is white thread, but with the directions you just were not sure. The directions are mostly pictures. I think some words would help. There should be markings to show kids how to line up the two sides. Also, I think the minimum age should be 9. Even though I thought I did a good job sewing the llama, I had to go back and resew parts that stretched and opened. We never did figure out why there was a circular hole on one side of the sloth head.

Guidance Needed From Someone with Experience
The concept is really cute and the finished product is darling. However, the pictorial instructions are very hard to follow, especially on how to tie the needle off and close the stitch. The rest of the instructions on the actual stitching are marginal, at best. It is best to start the project with someone who has experience with sewing. The needle, itself, is blunt and its long length makes it easy to handle. The target holes are large, but you must be careful to make sure it's aligned properly from the beginning, which is another reason why the project needs to be started with guidance.

Great first sewing project
My 5 year old son chose this as the first item he's spent his own money on. Great pick! Hes enjoyed picking it up a little each day, and looks forward to the finished project with pride. Simple to follow directions, with adult assist.

Cute, fun, parent involvement required!
We got these for our 4.5 / 6.5 year olds. They love them. Although be aware, even with independent children, these require constant adult support (with younger kids at least) and took us about 8-10 hours to complete. Directions aren't great. Its a fun rainy weekend family activity.
