Disability Awareness and Acceptance
January 10, 2025 - By JustAddVisualsfrom Saint Petersburg, FL
As a special needs teacher on a regular school campus, I often observe able-bodied and neurotypical students being afraid of, or negatively commenting on, observable supports or features of disabled students. My belief is that this is simply because they don't fully understand this difference, and it makes them feel uncomfortable - a totally understandable reaction for young children who don't yet know better. This doll accessory has been a perfect tool not only for making my own students feel seen and included, but also as a tool for bringing positive awareness, and hopefully acceptance, to all students who are still learning about these differences. It is of impressively high quality and holds up to my toughest kiddos. If you have dolls in your classroom, I highly recommend adding this to your dramatic play area, and engage in meaningful play highlighting the things that help us and make us all unique.
Yes, I would recommend this product.
