This was a fun challenge for my daughter. Pieces are sturdy. But I wish there were some extra letters. Sometimes she can’t spell a word correctly because she already used the one D in the previous word.

Great activity for beginning reader to extend sound blending skills.

Lakeshore learning should go back to the drawing board for this item. As stated in a previous review, my child has to borrow words that they already built. Its annoying to have to think ahead on what words they can do without having to borrow letters already used on the board. Another bummer was that they DO NOT include all the letters of the alphabet. For $30 please give parents and teachers all the letters of the alphabet. Here is what you get with this item: 3 blocks of all A, E, I, O and U. 2 blocks of D, K, N, R, S and T. And one letter of B, C, F, G, H, L, M, V, and W. Letters NOT INCLUDED are: J, P, Q, X, Y, and Z. I wanted to teach my child other sight words and also my name and her dads name, but we needed those missing letters.

We bought this game yesterday and my 5yo kindergartner is enjoying it immediately. It's quite a bummer however, that the number of letter tiles included is pretty weak, so if there are two picture words using g, or l, or c for example, he can't spell them at the same time (as pictured). It would be a great learning game but loses it's impact when he's having to borrow letters from words he just spelled out. It'd be nice if it were an option to get supplemental letters as well.

The students love building words! This game can be used in small groups and during intervention time. I highly recommend it.

Never be afraid that the magnets will fall: They are incredibly strong, maybe a bit too much. My daughter has sometimes difficulty to take the magnets off the board. But, that being said, I LOVE the set. It is great to introduce blends and diagraphs. She really enjoys it.
