I use the Ready to Write! Prompts primarily in my writing center. The prompt box contains opinion, informative, and narrative writing prompts that increase in complexity to use throughout the year. The variety of topics help orient the writing task to the content and skills of my writing and reading lessons. I love that it is a low-maintenance set-up and that my students are self-motivated when using it. When I am time-poor with planning, I have used them as an early finisher task or as an introductory task that sparks discussion for the lesson.

I had a writing center that I loved that I had to leave behind when I moved. Now I am happy that I did so I could upgrade to this one! I love that it has prompts sorted by the three different types of writing! I use this to motivate my students in higher grade levels that struggle with writing.

Lakeshore Ready to Write has changed my son's attitude to writing! He doesnt play video games, or watch TV, but he also never had a formal instruction. So, writing was a skill that I found hard to teach him. The simplicity in the sentences in each card, the bright colors, the topics, the words used, the font, everything makes these set the most fun thing to do during the day with my son. After his remote learning, we pull out a card, then I look for a book that is somewhat related and we read it together. Then we make connections between the boom and the card. We sit down to write together and finally we both draw a pretty picture with the same colora from the card. We both have fun doing this, but we only do it three times a week so the spark stays alive. This is a great tool to use during my instruction in my centers for writing.

My students grades kindergarten through second grade loved this tool. It helps provide them with both support and helps build their confidence as a writer (simple fill in the blank). They include options to complete the first portion of the sentence and then it provides and empty open-ended section for the students to complete the sentence.
