I appreciate the precision of these shapes (like two triangles will perfectly fit inside a parrelegram) and the way they teach kids how one shape relates to another. Well loved by preschoolers and first grader.

eye - hand coordination, spatial relations
All three of my grand-kids immediately tried this, ages 7, 5 and 3. Even their Mom was down on the floor trying one. We will also be making up our own designs since I am a quilter!

Hands-on Math
My kids ages 4-5 love these. A couple of kids were disappointed they had to wait to play with these. The tiles and mats are definitely a first choice item during free play time. The possibilities for using these tiles are endless. We started with the mats with pictures, It is only a matter of time before the children try creating objects on their own.

Great set!
That is great to introduce so many concepts with the children. I used it to do patterning, to sort. I love to use the blocks with the activity cards also available at Lakeshore. Those are great to develop visual spatial skills and critical thinking.

Excellent Activity Cards
*This review is for the Pattern Blocks Activity cards, not the pattern blocks. These pattern block activity cards were exactly what I was looking for to supplement my math small group instruction for geometry. I appreciate the way that the cards are numbered and as the number increased so does the complexity of the card. Though the cards are printed on a thicker paper and glossy I would still recommend laminating them for durability. My students really enjoy solving the pattern, especially when all of the shapes aren't colored in or the other half is completely blank.

pattern blocks are great for open ended learning
My children really enjoy playing with these blocks. They have learned geometry such as two square chips put together make a rectangle. I also purchased the pattern block activity cards but they actually better enjoy playing with the blocks without the cards so that they can create their own designs. Also was good for teaching AB patterns, etc. They pieces are very thick plastic so they will not bend or break. Great quality!
