Description
Students learn all about bugs and insects—with a hands-on learning center that comes ready to use! Our instant center has everything children need to build skills independently: Just set out the materials and introduce the activity…then kids learn all about these living creatures as they sort chipboard pieces onto sorting mats! The center has enough materials for up to 4 children to work at once, including a double-sided instruction chart that gives everyone easy access to the activities…and simple picture instructions, so even nonreaders can participate. Center includes 4 sorting mats, 40 color-coded chipboard pieces in 4 storage pouches, plus a write & wipe assessment card to track children’s progress.

.Patience, Consideration and Identification

June 19, 2020 - By Identification and classificationfrom San Francisco

This is a good classification system with one omission. The yellow placement cards which show the bug or insect, should also contain their name. This would re- enforce the physical identification of the bug or insect for the child. My ranking of this product reflexs this omission.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Perfect for our insect unit

March 21, 2019 - By Meghan Herrmannfrom Port Byron, IL

I love that each sorting paper has its own set of color coded bugs and pouch for storage. Thank you Lakeshore for thinking of the little things that help center time run a little bit more smoothly! This center really helped our students grasp the science learning goals we set for them at the beginning of the unit: (1) Differentiate spiders from insects and (2) identify the main body features of insects.

Yes, I would recommend this product.
