Description
Our information-packed kits encourage kids to conduct investigations that support Next Generation Science Standards* for fifth grade! From synthesizing information about how science can boost conservation to developing a model to show that matter is made of particles too small to see, kids map out investigations, explain their process and relate findings to the real world. Set includes all 3 kits, each with 4 double-sided, 8 1/2" x 11" Investigation cards, materials for 4 investigations and 4 Connection cards. Plus, you get a guide with extensive lesson plans, possible answers and more! Each kit also available separately.
Develops skills in:
• Developing a model to describe that matter is made of particles too small to be seen
• Measuring and graphing quantities to provide evidence that regardless of the type of change that occurs when heating, cooling or mixing substances, the total weight of matter is conserved
• Making observations and measurements to identify materials based on their properties
• Conducting an investigation to determine whether the mixing of two or more substances results in new substances
• Developing a model using an example to describe ways the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and/or atmosphere interact
• Describing and graphing the amounts of saltwater and freshwater in various reservoirs to provide evidence about the distribution of water on Earth
• Obtaining and combining information about ways individual communities use science ideas to protect Earth’s resources and environment
• Supporting an argument that plants get the materials they need for growth chiefly from air and water
• Developing a model to describe the movement of matter among plants, animals, decomposers and the environment
