Disappointed in these binoculars. These are described by Lakeshore as a good first binoculars for kids. They really don't have good visibility and are not adjustable for viewing short and farther away distances. So I think the description is incorrect. Basically a toy, but made a tiny bit sturdier. I bought these for my Daycare/Preschool kids for outside activities ages 2 to 5 year olds. I was going to return due to my disappointment but my kids wanted to try them outside and they were thrilled with them... go figure! The cost was about $10. each after handling them I thought they were too expensive for what they were. Hopefully they last awhile, its only been a few weeks.

Excellent!
My class loves these binoculars! Nice and sturdy for dramatic play or outdoor exploring. Viewing quality is better than expected. Very pleased with purchase.

Great for 1st timers!
These binoculars were wonderful for short distance observation of the general outdoor environment during a nature walk. The kids loved the fact they were colorful and even older kids wanted to use them. We had one student drop a pair (during a fall) and they held up fine. These were a good size for children around age 6 and under (as first time users of binoculars).

Perfect, well made.
No parts for little hands to break... perfect for watching the ships on the Lake or birds in the yard. Kids and I love them.

Great for Dramatic Play
My students use these daily. I cannot speak to them as a science tool, but as a dramatic play prop, they are wonderful! They have used them to go on treasure hunts, to find their way to "fancy parties," to go on bear or dinosaur hunts, etc.
